Children’s
play equipment requires safety surfacing to be laid within a specific
radius to the apparatus. Previously, with straight timber or concrete
edging sections, this radius was produced using hexagons, octagons and
other straight edged shapes that all have a greater surface area than a
circle and thereby require more fill material.
A flexible edging that can produce a perfect and more efficient circle
keeps the required safety area and the fill material to a minimum.
Surface gradient preparation and installation costs can be kept to a
minimum as the supple and pliant ‘Flexi-Edge’ product can climb and fall
over slopes and uneven surfaces, whereas concrete or timber would need to
be cut into small sections in order to hug the sloping ground.
Pricing of the ‘Flexi-Edge’ system is close to the current
traditional methods and so from a cost point of view there may be a saving
on the overall project cost too.
